Kendrick Lamar Addresses Lil Wayne and The Super Bowl Halftime Show

Kendrick Lamar is not letting Lil Wayne and his friends’ “negative” comments about his Super Bowl gig slide. After being mute for some time, Lamar has finally addressed Weezy and his friends.

On Friday the 22nd of November 2024, Kendrick took the music industry by storm by dropping a surprise full album ‘GNX’. He released the LP without any pre-release promos or warnings.

The album features collaborations with his former Top Dawg Entertainment colleague SZA, Roddy Ricch, etc. He addresses a bunch of things including Lil Wayne and his friends’ arguments that he (Lamar) didn’t deserve to be selected to headline the Super Bowl scheduled for next year.

In ‘Wacced Out Murals’, Lamar raps in the second verse “Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud/ Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down,” referring to the New Orleans rapper posting a video about how hurt he was about not being chosen to headline the Super Bowl in his hometown.

The issue as to whether Lamar deserved the gig or not has been a controversial topic and heated debate amongst hip-hop enthusiasts. After Jay Z’s Roc Nation and the NFL announced Kendrick as the headliner, Lil Wayne in a video expressed his frustrations and displeasure, explaining how he has always wished to headline the ceremony.

Young Money members Birdman and Nicki Minaj also reacted furiously, accusing Jay Z of sidelining Weezy. At Weezy’s 2024 ‘Lil Weezyana’ Festival, he again commented on the issue, testifying to how heartbroken he is.
