After hosting Saturday Night Live [SNL] in November this year, there is another acting credit in the pipeline for singer and songwriter Charli XCX.
Directed by Cathy Yan, XCX is featured in forthcoming film ‘The Gallerist’ as a cast.
Scheduled to begin shooting at the end of 2024 as it is currently in pre-production stage, Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega had earlier been announced as stars of the upcoming movie.
According to a report on Friday the 13th of December, Charli, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Sterling K. Brown, Zach Galifianakis, Daniel Brühl and Catherine Zeta-Jones round out the cast.
Co-written by Director Yan and James Pederson, the storyline of the movie involves a gallerist conspiring to sell a dead body at Art Basel Miami. Producers include Ash Sarohia and Jonathan King from Concordia Studio, Sophie Mas and Portman from MountainA, Tom McCarthy and Rae Baron from Slow Pony, and Zola Elgart Glassman. MRC is set to finance the film.
Following a successful run with her latest album, June’s Brat (which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making it her highest charting album to date, the singer and songwriter has a couple of movie roles lined up.
100 Nights of Hero, Erupcja, Faces of Death, I Want Your Sex, Mother Mary and Sacrifice, all currently in post-production are all movies credited to Charli’s name. She’s also guest starring on the Amazon comedy series Overcompensating. Charli is repped by CAA.
