Katy Perry will soon be taking off from Earth with an all-female crew headed by the billionaire’s fiancée, according to a statement released by Jeff Bezos’s aerospace business, Blue Origin. Gayle King revealed the trip plans on CBS Mornings, and Sánchez and Perry would be taking up space in the detachable capsule of the New Shepard rocket.
Film producer Kerianne Flynn, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, and rocket scientist Aisha Bowe are among the other space females on their team. Pete Davidson, who you may recall canceled a 2022 Blue Origin flight for unknown reasons, should have been able to join them as well.
The 11th Blue Origin New Shepard adventure to include humans, the all-gals voyage, is scheduled for sometime this spring, most likely prior to Perry’s tour to promote her most recent album, the critically acclaimed 143. Maybe her approximately 11-minute voyage, which includes four minutes of weightlessness at the outer space borders, will inspire new electronic-dance, feminist music that she may perform in Mexico City and Ibiza this summer. She will then be able to brag that she has traveled further from Earth than Elon Musk, who has yet to travel to space despite his frequent declarations that he wishes to die on Mars. To gain courage, I suggest he listen to “Firework” a few hundred times.
