The event was a night to remember as patrons experienced live performances of the songs on the singer’s newly released album. Songs such as ‘Ozeba’ and ‘HEIS’ when performed got the patrons highly entertained.

During the party, the ‘Calm Down’ hitmaker as a leading Afrobeats Frontline act spoke on the need for the genre to be protected.

He stressed that the composition of Afrobeats sounds should not be made easier for foreigners to recreate.

“Afrobeats was getting boring so I had to switch it up. The softer we make music for the international audience to understand, the easier it’ll be for them to create it. They keep applauding you until they come for our awards. By then we’d have indirectly sold ourselves” He said.

Released on the 11th of July this year, the singer’s sophomore project after his debut ‘Rave and Roses’ album featured street pop superstar Shallipopi and rapper Odumodou Blvk. ‘Benin Boys’ and ‘Hehehe’ had been released as lead singles before the album’s official release.

Rema and Shallipopi championed their roots in ‘Benin Boys’, writing a love letter to their hometown, Benin State in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In ‘March Am’, he talks about his success and ambition and in ‘Yayo’, he boasts of his achievements.
