Speaking in a post-release interview with Boomplay on ’60 Secs With Ayra Starr ‘, the ‘Rush’ hitmaker revealed that she recorded 15 versions of ‘Jazzy’s Song’ before choosing a perfect version.

She also spoke on the success of the album and the reactions it has met after its release.

Touching on how listeners have reacted to the project, she stressed that though she expected fans to have their favorites, she never expected all the songs would be loved.

Released on the 31st of May 2024, ‘The Year I Turned 21′, the Sophomore album of Ayra Starr was dropped when she clocked 21 years. It follows her debut album ’19 And Dangerous’ which was released in 2021, the year the Beninese-Nigerian act turned 19.

The Mavin Records signee embraces adulthood, her quest for money, self-introspection  and self-confidence. She blends Afrobeats and R&B with a splash of Latin pop. The project is carved out of diversity  as it features some Afrobeats powerhouses such as Asake and Seyi Vibez, R&B sensations Coco Jones and Giveon, and Brazilian pop star Anitta.
