Richie Mensah, founder of Ghana’s premier music establishment, Lynx Entertainment, has launched the groundbreaking “Live the Music” campaign, an attempt to redefine Ghana’s music industry. This innovative initiative aims to address critical gaps in the local music scene and propel Ghana’s artistic community to new heights.
The “Live the Music” campaign is a comprehensive 12-part program designed to nurture talent, honour musical legacy and unite stakeholders across Ghana’s vibrant arts sector.
The launch event held at the Mövenpick Hotel on Friday, August 9, featured a compelling documentary which featured t. Adjetey Anan, Richie, DJ Vyrusky, Jay Foley, Eddie Blay, Okyeame Kwame, and Reggie Rockstone. The documentary showcased the industry’s shortcomings and highlighted how “Live the Music” will provide solutions. The campaign promises to nurture young talent, celebrate music legends, and unite stakeholders through collaborative projects.
According to the Richie Mensah, the forerunner of the campaign, the components include the Lynx Cubs: Supporting emerging artists; Music Museum: Preserving Ghana’s rich musical heritage; Roll Call High School: Engaging youth in music education; Believe EP & Legacy Album: Showcasing diverse musical talents; LTM Tour: Bringing live music experiences across the country; Women in Music: Empowering female artists and industry professionals; Creative Art Workshop: Fostering interdisciplinary artistic collaborations
At the star-studded launch event, industry luminaries gathered to celebrate this milestone. George Quaye emphasized the campaign’s potential to transform daily life through art. Godwin Tom of Sony Music Publishing West Africa on his side challenged organizers to make “Live the Music” a continental blueprint.
Emmanuel Ekuban, known as Nuel Bans in creative circles, praised the campaign’s inclusive approach, noting its potential to unite music and arts communities.
The launch featured electrifying performances by chart-topping artists KiDi and Olivetheboy, along with pulsating DJ sets that kept the energy high throughout the night.
