Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has launched a football Academy in Lagos in his efforts to nurture young African football talents aged 4-21.
Dubbed “Burna Boy Football Academy,” four junior academies of the team have been established in four strategic locations such as Ikoyi, Surulere, Port Harcourt and Abuja.
News of the singer’s newly established football club took social media platforms by storm on Sunday the 11th of August 2024. Many football fans across Africa have been hailing Burna Boy since the good news hit the internet.
According to the club’s vision, “We aim to create an environment where kids can learn the fundamentals of football, combined with education, discipline and technique to excel in life beyond the sport. We strive to engage parents in sports education, emphasizing its importance alongside academic pursuits. We believe this holistic approach is not only possible but also essential for our children’s future success”
In a statement signed by the founder, the academy outlining its values stated that they are “dedicated to providing top-notch coaching, individual mentoring when needed and ensuring each child enjoys the learning process”
“We recognize that parents are the primary educators and ask for your support in allowing our coaches to guide your children’s development. Discipline is our priority in our academy, and we will maintain a balance between nurturing and challenging our young athletes ” the statement further reads.
He expressed appreciation to all who have chosen the Academy, promising to serve their young players and help them reach their full potential.
