American musicians Zach Bryan and Beyonce are the leading nominees for the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards. They lead with 19 and 17 nominations respectively.
Zach and Beyonce are followed by Kacey Musgraves (15), Shaboozey (12), Kane Brown and Morgan Wallen (11 each) and then Luke Combs (10) on the nominees with the most nominations list.
Historically, three of the leading nominees are black, something that is not likely to be witnessed at the highly profiled People’s Choice Country Awards.
Wallen was the leading nominee at last year’s edition of the prestigious Awards ceremony, though he won only three. Jelly Roll won four at last year’s edition, becoming the top winner.
This year’s ceremony is quite diverse and unique as six additional categories including female song, male song, group/duo song, cover song, new artist song and storyteller song have been added to the show.
Out of this year’s eighteen categories, nine are dedicated to songs, six are artist awards and one each is for albums, music videos and concert tours.
Scheduled to air live Thursday, Sept. 26, at 8 p.m. ET/PT across NBC and Peacock from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, the forthcoming and much-anticipated event will be hosted by Shania Twain. Twain is the only woman in the running for The Concert Tour of 2024. She is nominated for Shania Twain: Come On Over – The Las Vegas Residency – All the Hits!
Beyonce, Musgraves and Laina Wilson are the only women nominated in the top award: People Artist Of 2024 category. Brown, Combs, Wallen and Bryan (who were also nominated in this category last year) plus Jelly Roll (who is nominated in this category for the first time) are the five men nominated in the category.
In the Song of 2024 category, Zach Bryan’s “I Remember Everything” (feat. Musgraves) and “Pink Skies” have been nominated. “I Remember Everything” and Bryan’s “Hey Driver” (feat. The War and Treaty) have also been nominated for The Collaboration Of 2024.
Beyonce’s “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ’Em” have been nominated for The Female Song Of 2024. In the Cover Song Of 2024, her updates of The Beatles’ “Blackbird” and Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” earned nominations.
Post Malone has two of the eight nominees for The Music Video of 2024: “I Had Some Help” (feat. Wallen) and “Pour Me a Drink” (feat. Blake Shelton). Musgraves has two of the eight nominees for The Storyteller Song of 2024: “Deeper Well” and “Too Good to Be True.”
Fast-rising artist Shaboozey is likely to win in the Best New Artist category as he is the biggest and most popular contender. Chase Matthew, Chayce Beckham, Dasha, Koe Wetzel, Nate Smith, Tucker Wetmore and Warren Zeiders will be battling Shaboozey in the category.
