Isaac Hayes Estate Granted Emergency Hearing Against Donald Trump

The Estate of the late American singer and songwriter Isaac Hayes is heading to court in its copyright infringement case against former President Donald Trump.

The son of the late soul singer Isaac Hayes III announced on social media that a federal court judge had granted an emergency hearing in their lawsuit against the former President for using “Hold On I’m Coming” at his campaign rallies without authorization. Hayes III announced on Friday the 23rd of August 2024.

Lawyers of the Isaac Hayes Enterprise had earlier on the 11th of August filed a notice of copyright infringement, threatening further legal action against the campaign of the Presidential candidate of the Republicans for using the late soul legend’s classic at his rallies from 2022 to 2024 without authorization.

“Today, on the anniversary of my father Isaac Hayes’ death we have repeatedly asked Donald Trump, the RNC and his representatives not to use ‘Hold on I’m Coming’ written by Isaac Hayes and David Porter during campaign rallies but yet again, in Montana they used it,” Hayes III wrote on X on Aug. 10.

The following day, he added “We demand the cessation of use, removal of all related videos, a public disclaimer, and payment of $3 million in licensing fees by August 16, 2024. Failure to comply will result in further legal action.”
