Beyoncé’s ‘Freedom’ Hits More Streams After Featuring in Kamala Harris Campaign

Grammy award-winning musician Beyoncé is currently charting high streams with ‘Freedom’ since July after years of its official release. This comes after Vice President Kamala Harris began using the song as her presidential campaign anthem in July. She first used it when she unveiled her first official campaign advertisement.

According to data released by Luminate, in the days leading up to President Joe Biden dropping out of the presidential race on July 21, “Freedom” averaged 19,000 U.S. streams per day (July 1-20). On July 23, the day after Harris made her entrance during her first official visit to her campaign headquarters, in which she walked out to “Freedom,” the song surged to 205,000.

On Aug. 23, after the final day of the Democrat Convention in which Harris accepted the Democrats’ nomination for president, the song tallied 159,000 streams.

Released in 2016 off Beyonce’s 6th full-length studio album ‘Lemonade’, the record features American rapper Kendrick Lamar. Written by the duo alongside John Coffer and Just Blaze, ‘Freedom’ is a powerful anthem that celebrates black culture, empowerment and resilience.
