Nigerian Afrobeats singer and songwriter, Adekunle Gold is celebrating the 8th Anniversary of his “Gold” debut full-length album. This anniversary for him was in honour of all who contributed to the making of the project.
Released in July 2016, the singer dropped his debut project after signing a record label with legendary rapper Olamide’s YBNL label. It boosted his global reach and audience appeal, opening a new chapter in his career.
In a statement on his X platform, Adekunle Gold disclosed that before the release of ‘Gold’, he only dreamt about the world hearing about his talent and craft.
He tweeted ” All I had was a dream. I knew I had a special gift and I said to myself, “The world must hear this, they must know my name, these stories I have to share must mean something to people, these songs must find a home in people’s hearts” 8 years ago, my life changed forever!
THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THAN GOLD!”
Showing appreciation, the ‘5 Star’ hitmaker thanked Olamide for signing him and Pheelz for producing some songs on the album.
“Thank you @olamide for giving that young graphic designer the chance to not only design the YBNL logo but to be a part of your family.” His post reads.
He also thanked his musician wife, Simi, for mixing and mastering the whole project.
“Thank you @SympLySimi for mixing and mastering the whole album! For the sleepless nights and engineering the whole album. You are the best to vocally produce me! Thanks baby.”
