Asake Explores Multiple Genres in ‘Lungu Boy’ Album 

Grammy-nominated Afrobeats superstar Asake has officially released his “Lungu Boy” studio album. His latest album reaffirms his status among Afrobeats elites.

Released on Friday the 9th of August 2024, the album follows his “Work Of Art” album. “Lungu Boy” which translates into English as “Ghetto Boy,” symbolizes the singer’s identity.

“Lungu Boy explains my early beginnings in music and how it shaped me into the person I am becoming,” Asake said. “The English word is ‘ghetto’. As you can tell from the choice of collaborations, Lungu Boy is my heritage and culture [spreading] to the rest of the world.”

The YBNL signee proving his versatility and creativity explores multiple genres including Afropop, samba, amapiano, funk and hip-hop. The singer, widely hailed for his fuji-pop and amapiano experiments speaking on the sonic direction of the LP said: “It’s a new field. I refuse to limit myself, and strive to share my African heritage with the world through a blend beyond just a sound.”  

For his quest and determination to penetrate through different music markets globally, the Grammy nominee features Ludmilla from Brazil, Ghanaian-British rapper Stormzy, Central Cee from the UK, Travis Scott, America and Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid.

Following a successful release, the ‘Lonely At The Top’ hitmaker will continue his ‘Lungu Boy’ world tour on the 16th of August in Washington DC and make stops in Detroit, Atlanta, Houston,  Los Angeles, New York etc before wrapping up in Gold Coast, Australia. After the tour, he will return to London’s 02 Arena for the second time on the 21st of September 2024.
