Afrobeats singer and YBNL signee Asake has inked his name among the few Nigerian artists making massive moves on digital and streaming platform Spotify.
In a historic turn of events, the ‘Lonely At The Top’ hitmaker has surpassed 1 billion streams on the streaming platform.
The singer attains the feat following the successful release of his third full-length studio album ‘Lungu Boy’.
Asake joins Wizkid, Burna Boy, Rema, Tems, Ckay, Davido, Ayra Starr, Mr Eazi, Omah Lay, etc as the few Nigerian Afrobeats stars to surpass billions of streams on the DSP. Wizkid is the most streamed artist on the platform, with over 7 billion streams, followed by Burna Boy, who has 6.9 billion.
Since the release of his ‘Mr Money With The Vibes’ project, the singer has been consistent, from dropping hit singles and winning international awards to selling out popular venues such as the 02 Arena and State Farm Arena.
Released in August 2024, Asake explored multiple genres, including Afrobeats, Afrobeat, Fuji, etc, in his sophomore album. Recently, “Lungu Boy” debuted at number 115 on the Billboard 200 chart.
He makes history as the first Nigerian act to have his first three albums appear on the chart.
