Brighton & Hove Albion to Begin Construction on England’s First-Ever Women’s Stadium in 2026

By

The construction on Brighton & Hove Albion’s new women’s purpose-built stadium is scheduled to begin in 2026 as confirmed by the football club.

The Women’s Super League club had earlier in October 2024 submitted a proposal to the local council for the one-of-a-kind venue, which was approved in just a matter of weeks. Historically, this will be the first-ever football stadium built specifically for a women’s team in England.

Currently, the majority of Brighton’s league matches are hosted at Crawley Town’s Broadfield Stadium but as confirmed by the club’s Chief Executive and Deputy Chairman, Paul Barber, plans are progressing, and a site has already been identified for the new ground – putting Brighton Women closer to the heart of the club’s fanbase.

The women’s team back in 2021 moved into their training facilities at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre, a result of an £8.5 million investment. the club during last summer invested heavily in their women’s team by bringing on board the likes of Fran Kirby, Nikita Parris, Michelle Agyemang and more.

Although competition in the WSL is at an all-time high, it’s about time the gap between the top three and the rest of the table closed, and Brighton are doing all they can to both disrupt the status quo and set the club up for longevity.
