Camidoh’s ‘Sugarcane’ Remix Sets New Record On YouTube

Ghanaian Afrobeats/ Afropop artiste cum producer and songwriter born Raphael Kofi Attachie popularly known by his stage name, Camidoh, has set a record on video streaming platform YouTube with his ‘Sugarcane’ remix video.

This comes after the nicely shot and edited video garnered 100 million organic views on the platform, surpassing Sarkodie and the late Castro’s ‘Adonai’ visuals with 97 million views.

The video shot in Accra and Lagos is the most watched Ghanaian music video on the platform. In the video, the director, Rex, merged master- creativity, artistry and colors with technical prowess.

The project is a testament of Camidoh ‘s high taste for quality and standardized visuals. It starts by showing a scene of a man and a woman carrying sugarcanes, symbolizing and representing the record’s title. The two individuals believed to be lovers were captured staring at each other in the eyes, admiring themselves.

Camidoh’s then appears in the next scene, holding his woman’s hands, singing for her with his melodious and angelic voice. He was eulogizing his lover and the love they share as the song is all about affection, emotions, romance and love. He delivers on the hooks and chorus smoothly and flawlessly, proving his artistic and creative dexterity and versatility.

Celebrating the unprecedented achievement, media mogul and manager to the artiste George Britton tagged it as “visually captivating”

He wrote in a Facebook post” Camidoh’s #Sugarcane remix ft King Promise, Mayorkun and Darkoo becomes the most viewed music video on YouTube to come out of Ghana surpassing Sarkodie ft Castro’s #Adonai remix music video.

Released in 2022 after its original version gained popularity on TikTok and eventually became a global anthem, the record featuring King Promise, Mayorkun and Darkoo peaked at number 1 on Nigerian’s Top 100 Music Chart on DSP Apple in the first week of May- It debuted at number 20 on the global and international UK Afrobeats singles charts on the 1st of May 2022.
