Posing for a picture at the Eiffel Tower, the singer dreamt about performing live from the Tower some day. As a young girl coming up in the music industry, she only had a dream.

Exactly 42 years later, the Grammy-award-winning singer has made a comeback, performing live from the highly-profiled and prestigious Tower on Friday the 26th of July 2024. She performed to an estimated 1 billion viewers and patrons who joined the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony. The performance was a testament to the fact that dreams do come true with determination, commitments, hard work and resilience.

Stunning at the ceremony, the ‘New Day’ hitmaker soulfully and melodiously sang Edith Piaf’s  “Hymne à l’amour” from the prestigious Eiffel Tower. She cemented the show-stopping display with her captivating voice, beautifying her stagecraft with her colorful costume. The audience’s energetic reaction to the performance testified to her global influence and audience appeal.

In a post-event statement on her official X platform, she wrote;

“I’m honored to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities! Most of all, I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance. All of you have been so focused on your dream, and whether or not you take home a medal, I hope that being here means that it has come true for you!  You should all be so proud, we know how hard you have worked to be the best of the best. Stay focused, and keep going, my heart is with you!”
