Years after battling stiff person syndrome, Celine Dion made a major comeback at the Paris Olympics Opening with a stellar and authentic performance. She was the finale of the opening on the 26th of July 2024 after top performers such as Lady Gaga.

Stunning at the ceremony, the ‘New Day’ hitmaker soulfully and melodiously sang Edith Piaf’s  “Hymne à l’amour” from the prestigious Eiffel Tower. She cemented the show-stopping display with her captivating voice, beautifying her stagecraft with her colorful costume. The audience’s energetic reaction to the performance testified to her global influence and audience appeal.

In a post-event statement on her X platform, Celine said she is happy to be celebrating the amazing athletes with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance.

She wrote “I’m honored to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities! Most of all, I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance”

The singer added that “All of you have been so focused on your dream, and whether or not you take home a medal, I hope that being here means that it has come true for you!  You should all be so proud, we know how hard you have worked to be the best of the best. Stay focused, keep going, my heart is with you!”
