Crafte United FC: Ghana’s Capital Gets a New Home Team

Accra is now home to Crafte United FC, a new football community.

Ghanaian football has come of age, and its multi-dimensional potential remains ever more present.

As the popularity of the beautiful game grows, the need for teams with the intention of nurturing competitive talents that thrive both locally and globally cannot be overemphasized.

Crafte United Football Club, Accra’s new home team, sprung up as an exchange between two of the most crucial aspects of the game—sportsmanship and administration—embodied by the club’s founders, Randy Walker and Ali Abass.

“My partner, a good friend, who went through the Right 2 Dream system, played for Man City and eventually made it to the Irish Premier League as a top goalie. He has shared his knowledge and skills, training with Premier League clubs and his colleagues. I’ve been working in advertising and managing a lot of these brands, sponsoring these clubs and competitions. Often, you’d realise how much potential there was and money that was left on the table. Together, we knew there was something we could do, at least.”

At the core of the club’s DNA is its far-reaching access to a community of experienced players from football systems across the world including Africa and Europe, creating an ecosystem tipped to be a strong foundation for an astronomical journey up Ghana’s hierarchy.

Crafte United FC nicknamed The Hunters in its fledgling stage, will leverage a trove of personnel experiences from high-performing teams like Manchester City to shape a signature style of play that fits Africa first and thrives in other football markets.

The club’s leadership is poised to lay out its plans for the foreseeable future.

“We’ve always had the material. Kudos to some of the people who have done this. We want to be a club that plays at the top and stays there – always hunting for glory. That’s why we’re called the Hunters.” – Randy Walker.
