Fireboy DML Set To Join Spotify’s Billion Club With ‘Playboy’

By

Afrobeats singer and songwriter Fireboy DML is the latest Nigerian artist set to join the prestigious Billion Club of Digital and Streaming platform Spotify.

This comes after his 2022 ”Playboy’ full-length studio album surpassed 800 million streams on the streaming platform.

Hitting the historic milestone, ‘Playboy’ becomes the 8th Most Streamed Nigerian project on the DSP after Mavin Records act Ayra Starr’s ‘The Year I Turned 21’.

Fireboy’s LP was the 7th Most Streamed Nigerian project ever on the platform before ‘The Year I Turned 21’ dethroned it by first surpassing the 800 million streams mark. The two projects are now battling for the first LP to hit 1 billion streams on Spotify.

The album’s recent achievement is a testament to the singer and songwriter’s fast rising popularity and listeners appeal on the global platform.

Released in 2022, ‘Playboy’ was a follow-up album to Fireboy’s 2020 ‘Apollo’ project. The third LP of the singer testified to the act’s growth and popularity on the global music market as it historically entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 123.
