The Grammy accolades on Sunday night are expected to honor a great generation of highly intelligent young female singers from pop to R&B, indie-rock, and beyond; but, only one of them, Taylor Swift, may win the most major award.
Sunday could prove to be a history-making evening if her album, Midnights, pick up the biggest prize of the night. After a year in which her album and the ensuing career-spanning Eras tour captivated pop culture, she seemed to have the support of the recording industry. She also made headlines with her 2024 Song of the Year nomination, making her the only person to ever receive seven nods in that category.
Taylor Swift would become the first artist in Grammy history to win Album of the Year four times, surpassing music icons Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder, who each have three awards in that category.
Swift, who is up for six prizes, will have to contend with Boygenius, Janelle Monaé, Jon Batiste, Lana Del Rey, Miley Cyrus, SZA, and Olivia Rodrigo in this category.
The Grammy Awards which is the crème-de-la-crème of the music industry will descend on Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena in the hope of bringing home a coveted golden gramophone with Trevor Noah as host.
