It appears African music ios finally dominated the globe and being enjoyed by many people including Colombian heavyweight singer cum songwriter Shakira.
According to the Award-winning superstar, she loves African music, especially Afrobeats.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone monitored by RevolveMuzic, she expressed her administration and love for Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy and South Africa’s fast-rising songstress and Grammy- award-winner Tyla.
“I love anything Afrobeats. I like Tyla, I like Burna Boy, anything Afrobeats. But I love Burna so much” Shakira noted.
Explaining her taste in music in three words, the ‘Waka Waka’ hitmaker and composer said;
“If I could explain my taste in music in three words, I would say eclectic, honest and real.
Shakira has been a fan of African music for ages. In 2010, she sampled one of the continent’s biggest and most popular records ‘Zangalewa’ by Cameroonian band Golden Sounds to compose her official South Africa World CUP song ‘ Waka Waka’.
She is known to be one of the best-selling female artistes of all time, selling over 100 million certified records in her career. In 2023, she was the best-selling Latin artiste of all time in the United States and worldwide according to Billboard.
