Ice Spice acknowledging her mother for serving as an inspiration for her next record, Y2K. This revelation was made before Mother’s Day during an interview with Zane Lowe.
“Thankfully, I had my mom, so growing up I’d see her really embody the Y2K aesthetic in its truest form,” she said around the 3:15-minute mark of the video below. “It’s duck nails, it’s a tramp stamp. It’s brown lip liner, no matter where you go. So thankfully, I had her as my inspo growing up. And of course just like the internet, you feel me? Just like anyone else.”

Following up her incredible Coachella performance some weeks ago, Ice Spice is back with her first official song from her upcoming debut album, Y2K, “Gimmie A Light.” Later this year, 10K Projects/Capitol Records is set to release the highly anticipated Y2K.
“Gimmie A Light,” produced by RiotUSA, a longtime partner of Ice Spice who has previously produced career-defining songs like her gold-certified breakthrough track “Munch (Feelin U),” is based on a sample from dancehall icon Sean Paul’s 2002 classic “Gimme the Light.” Using all the effortless star power that catapulted the Bronx Baddie to fame shortly after she emerged from the drill scene in New York, she drops a two-minute song that showcases her razor-sharp lines, lightning-fast delivery, and powerful vocal command. The end product is a high-energy music packed with catchy hooks and upbeat beats, slick and self-possessed.
