American rapper Ice Spice has marked a new beginning in her career with the release of her much-anticipated full-length studio album ‘Y2K’.
The album was released on Friday the 26th of July 2024 via 10K projects and Capitol Records, opening a new chapter in the rapper’s career.
“Phat Butt”, “Think U The Shit (Fart), and “Gimme Light” were released as lead singles of the new project. “Think U The Shit” made history, becoming Ice Spice‘s longest-charting unaccompanied solo Billboard 100 hit to date. At the 2024 BET AWARDS where she was nominated for best collaboration and video of the year for “Barbie World” with Nicki Minaj and Aqua, as well as best female hip-hop artist, she delivered a stellar performance of ‘Think U The Shit” and “Phat Butt”.
Showcasing her lyrical prowess and shining solo on seven songs, Spice features Travis Scott on “Oh Shhhh,” Gunna on “Bitch Am Packing” and British rapper Central Cee on “Did It First’ where they traded cheating secrets. At the 2024 edition of the UK Wireless Festival held at Finsbury Park, the female MC and her British collaborator performed their hit song for the first time.
Before the release on the 26th, in an interview with Billboard when she was named the 2024 Women in Music Hitmaker honoree, speaking on “Y2K,” she said.
“I think this is some of my best work. It’s not going to be too long — it’s going to be sweet and to the point.”
