Fans of American iconic rapper and hip-hop luminary Lil Wayne have the opportunity to add his Hot Boys 1999 notebook filled with handwritten lyrics to their collections as it is up for auction.
Earlier in August, Moments in Time posted that the notebook filled with handwritten lyrics from Weezy’s verses on Hot Boys tracks like “We On Fire” and “I Feel.” is seeking 5 million dollars for the auction.
Both tracks landed on Hot Boys’ sophomore album Guerrilla Warfare, which was released in July 1999. The project debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. “We On Fire” served as the album’s lead single and reached No. 5 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.
After years of legal battles when Wayne tried to claim ownership of the property in 2029, the decorated and prestigious artefact is returning to the auction block. Once the rapper reportedly didn’t respond to the lawsuit, a Louisiana Court ultimately sided with Moments in Time.
The artefact had earlier been listed initially in 2019 for $250, 000 and defended upping the price tag to TMZ claiming “Lil Wayne is one of the greatest rappers ever, making his handwritten song notes incredibly valuable.”
At a dealership where a man worked, he reportedly discovered the notebook in a car that was once owned by Lil Wayne’s Cash Money Records. After the discovery, the legal battle regarding who was the rightful owner of the notepad began.
During a court ruling in February, per legal documents, on Moments in Time’s website, Judge Kern Reese declared the anonymous person in possession of the notebook as the rightful owner of the property.
