LL COOL J Returns with New Single “Saturday Night Special”

Hip-hop legend and two-time Grammy Award winner LL COOL J, who was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, makes a spectacular comeback to the music scene with his new track “Saturday Night Special,” which features Rick Ross and Fat Joe. The song, which was released by Virgin Music Group and Def Jam Recordings, is LL Cool J’s return after a ten-year absence.

Produced by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Q-Tip, the new song opens with a unique sound design. With poetic dexterity, LL COOL J, Rick Ross, and Fat Joe explore the song, portraying the complex relationships, harsh reality, and moral code that guide life. The song, titled “Saturday Night Special” after the revolver class, delves into important figures in the hustle, including the “daredevil type” who lusts for attention and the “greedy killer” who lashes out at slights. The song’s central theme, which emphasizes self-preservation and smart connection, centres on trust and reciprocity in the hustle.

The highly anticipated 14th studio album by LL, The FORCE (Frequencies of Real Creative Energy), is scheduled for release this fall. The single is the first drop from the album which commemorates the 40th anniversary of Def Jam Recordings, the label that first launched LL’s career, and was executive produced by Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest.

“‘Saturday Night Special’ is just the beginning,” LL said. “There’s a lot more where this came from, and I’m hype for y’all to hear this new record. We’re doing this for the fans and for Hip-Hop culture.”
