Award-winning American rapper and hip-hop luminary Lil Wayne has been honored with New Orleans Keys To The City.
The Mayor of New Orleans Latoya Cantrell surprised the rapper with the honor at his just -ended ‘Weezyana’ Festival. The festival, founded by Lil Wayne in 2015 on the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, was established as a way for the artist to give back to New Orleans.
Over the years, it has evolved into a major cultural event that highlights the city’s vibrant music scene and community spirit.
The Young Money member with his long-standing career spanning over decades was recognized at the festival for his immense impact and contributions to music and his hometown.
Commenting on the honor, the Mayor’s office stated that the award reflects the artist’s “enduring impact on New Orleans and the world.”
Furthering the festivities, New Orleans Entertainment Ambassador Master P bestowed upon Lil Wayne a Career Achievement Award, celebrating his roles as an artist, producer, and music executive.
