Nigerian street pop star and rapper Olamide has surprised his fans and music lovers with a new EP dubbed ‘Ikigai’. The album received 1.86 million listens on its first full day of availability on Spotify, making it the most-streamed album in a single day of 2024.

The currently trending and chart-topping EP is his first project of the year since he went on a musical hiatus. His last release was ‘Unruly’, which came out last year. The project is between himself and the past and present artists of his YBNL record label.

 ‘Ikigai’, the title of the EP is a Japanese term which means ‘Life’s Purpose ‘. Barely less than 24 hours after the release, the EP has peaked at number 1 on Apple Music, Nigeria.

The record was previously held by Shallipopi’s “Shakespopi,” which had 1.59 million streams, but this accomplishment has rearranged the charts.
