After achieving so much success in the music industry, from releasing top projects and collaborating with A-list artists including Drake, Davido and Patoranking, Caribbean Dancehall superstar, Popcaan is building a legacy not for only himself but his entire family. The Unruly boss is currently grooming his nephew not to become only a fine gentleman but a great artist.
Popcaan has returned in a grand and epic style with a nicely written and produced summer jam. He joins forces with his sound engineer nephew Joel, son of Unruly Squid, his sister.
Dubbed ‘Immigrant’, the record testifies to Joel’s production capabilities and infectious energy. It is a testament to Popcaan’s signature lyrical prowess. It speaks to the ‘Immigrant’ experience and it’s a sound that puts listeners in a good mood.
Speaking in an interview with Joel who will graduate from a high school in Kingstown later this month, disclosed that growing up in the Unruly camp, his mother and uncle have always inspired him. He believes their careers and talents have left indelible marks on the global music landscape and he is also ready to make his history with his talent.
” Growing up in the Unruly Camp has been a unique and inspiring experience. My mom and uncle have been my biggest influence.
“My uncle’s dedication and passion for music has always motivated me. With ‘Immigrant,’ I wanted to create something that resonates with Jamaicans and regional citizens living abroad. It’s a song about our experiences and the stories that connect us. I’m also incredibly excited to collaborate with other local artists and continue to grow as a producer,” Joel shared.
