Nigerian Afrobeats superstar and Mavin Records signee Rema has shared his thoughts on music fans comparing his latest masterpiece, ‘HEIS’ to ‘Yeezus’.
According to him, it is fair for the album to get such recognition because he experimented a lot with the musical arrangements and compositions.
Speaking in a post-release interview with Complex Music, the ‘Calm Down’ hitmaker expressed that he did a lot of infusions on the project yet kept it original and local.
“It’s fair you know, because I experimented a lot. I did a lot of infusions and kept it raw, original and local” He said.
“And I feel like it’s gonna be a fan favourite definitely ” the singer hoped.
Talking about the diversity and versatility of the album’s productions, he described his choice of productions as “risky”. He added that as an artist who is now a global house name, he felt like taking himself back to the days he was coming up in the industry.
Since the release of the singer’s sophomore full-length studio album, it has been achieving massive chart success and dominating playlists. The project features street rapper Odumodou Blvk, and Rema’s Benin City hometown fellow Shallipopi. He pays homage to his hometown, boasts of his achievements and addresses his critics and naysayers in the album.
