Jamaican Reggae dancehall , Spice, is prepared to commemorate her historic career after 25 years of putting out excellent albums and wow audiences across the world with her amazing performances. Spice is releasing a full-length studio album in honour of her 25th anniversary in the music business.
Beginning her musical journey and career in 1999, Spice has set unprecedented records and achieved so much for herself including becoming the first female dancehall artist to be nominated for Best Dancehall Act Of The Year at MOBO Awards in 2016. She has multiple prestigious and highly-profiled awards to her credit including Key To The Region in Florida and Female Artiste Of The Year at the Caribbean Music Awards in 2003.
The Grammy-nominated star announced the forthcoming album in a letter to her fans which she affectionately addresses as ‘Besties’. The letter comes hours after she posted a video on social media, revealing the name of the album as ‘Mirror 25’.
In the letter to her fans, the ‘Black Hypocrisy ‘ singer expressed her love for them and how grateful she is to have them. Sharing her excitement over the release of the album, she elaborated on its significance and symbolism.
“Besties, as you know, a mirror shows us our true selves, both the beautiful and the imperfect. This album is my way of showing you my true self while sharing the experiences and emotions that have shaped me into the artist I am today. Choosing the title ‘Mirror’ felt right because a mirror gives reflection, and I’m in an era where I have been reflecting on all the things I have managed to overcome musically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically” Spice stated in the letter.
She also described her musical journey as a testament to challenges, adding that she has learnt lessons and also gained resilience that keeps her moving forward. She attributed her relevance to the ever-growing and fast-paced music industry as a blessing from God.
Mirror 25′ will be more than just a collection of songs; it is a reflection of my journey as a musical artiste.
“Each track on this album tells a part of my story—an honest portrayal of the highs and lows, the victories and the struggles, and the growth I have experienced along the way.”
The entertainer also admitted that reflecting on her past will be “emotional” for her.
“… However, I’m fearless and ready to live in my truth with you. Sit back, and let’s reflect together on 25 years in dancehall,” Spice told her fans.
