SZA Announces Break From Live Performances

Celebrated American singer SZA has announced a break from live performances.

The singer announced on her official social media platform on Monday 5th August 2024.

The unexpected news comes after SZA’s headlining set at Montreal’s Osheaga Festival on Aug. 5.

“Yesterday was my last show for a while,” SZA wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Finally bout to get my life together thank u, God,” she wrote on her platform.

The announcement follows an extensive run of festival appearances and tour dates for the Grammy-award-winning musician.

Since last year 2023, the “Kill Bill” hitmaker has thrilled and entertained patrons and fans, performing 63 shows across the globe on her SOS world tour before playing at power-packed summer festivals. Her festival performances include Lollapalooza in Chicago, Glastonbury in the U.K., and her final gig at Osheaga.

Though the singer will be away from stage performances, she will still be serving music fans with hits as he teased a new song at Osheaga dubbed ‘Cry Baby,” telling the crowd, “It’s not out, but it will be.”

SZA’s break comes at a time when she is achieving massive commercial success, reaching new milestones and breaking boundaries. Her SOS sophomore album released in December 2022, has been a chart powerhouse. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has shown remarkable staying power.

In July this year, the singer in a historic turn of events became the fourth Black woman in history to gross over $100 million in a single tour, joining Tina Turner, Beyonce, and Barbadian superstar Rihanna on the prestigious list. She also earned the highest-grossing international concerts of her career on April 23-24 and 26, with $2.042 million each night at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney as part of the “SOS Tour”.
