Tanzanian hip-hop artist Young Lunya has made waves in the music industry with the release of his highly anticipated debut album, “MBUZI” (Swahili for “GOAT”). The rapper declares himself the “Greatest of All Time” in the history of East African rap, making a bold claim in the album’s title.
Currently signed to Rockstar Africa, Young Lunya has been steadily building his fan base, with many of his singles achieving impressive streaming and download numbers across various online platforms. The 11-track album showcases Young Lunya’s versatility and collaborative spirit, featuring a mix of local and international talent.
Notable guest appearances on “MBUZI” include fellow Tanzanian artists Marioo and JayMelody, as well as Kenyan rap heavyweight Khaligraph Jones. The album also boasts international collaborations, with London-based rapper Dutchavelli lending his skills to the project.
Young Lunya’s rise to prominence was further solidified by his recent appearance on the prestigious Hennessy Cypher 2024. He made history as the first Tanzanian rapper to participate in the event, sharing the stage with continental rap icons such as Ghana’s Sarkodie, Nigeria’s Lapidoe, and Kenya’s Khaligraph Jones.
