Tems and Ayra Starr, two notable Nigerian female artists who are making their debut appearances for the female Nigerian artist market, have achieved significant breakthroughs with their latest album releases. Before 2024, no Nigerian female artist had their albums on the official UK albums chart, but now thanks to Tems and Ayra, that drought is over.

The album “The Year I Turned 21” by Ayra Starr made its chart debut at position #80, becoming the first Nigerian female performer to do so. However, she left the charts after just one week.

Tems’ “Born In The Wild” has just debuted at #25, making an even more astounding debut that breaks the previous record for the highest debut by a female Nigerian artist.
