UEFA Increases 2025 Women’s Euros Prize Money by 156%

By

2025 Women’s Euros just got better as UEFA has announced the increase of the prize for the winning team by 156%.

This comes after the Euros governing body announced a €41m prize pot for the 2025 Women’s Euros.

The new prize announced, doubles the16 million Euros shared among teams in the previous edition, and a substantial jump from 2017’s 8 million Euros. With next year’s summer scheduled to take in Switzerland looking highly rewarding, the 2025 winners are looking at a maximum payout of €5.1m.

Despite the heavy increase, the overall prize fund still lags behind the Men’s Euros by nearly €300m. However, considering the prize pot has more than quadrupled in less than a decade, this can only be seen as a positive for the women’s game.

Creating a hype, interest and culture around women’s football in Europe that had never been seen before, the 2022 Women’s Euros was a major success. The hype and buzz round the Women’s league haven’t died down nearly three years down the line.  Women’s football has only gotten bigger, with more fans and more investment taking the game to new heights using the Euros as a Springboard.

Just for taking part in the tournament, teams are looking at €1.8m with heavy bonuses only further incentivising high performances throughout.

For some nations, that might not seem like much. But for others, playing under federations that don’t care to invest in the women’s game, the new prize pot is a gamechanger.

As the game continues to grow around the world, here’s to more record-breaking funding not only in Europe, but everywhere.
