American R&B singer and songwriter Usher has postponed his ‘Past Present Future’ tour in an unexpected turn of events.
The singer communicated the postponement in a statement shared on his official social media platforms.
Usher had earlier been scheduled to kickstart the tour at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on Wednesday the 14th of August 2024, but postponed the tour minutes to the show.
According to him, he is rescheduling ‘Past Present Future’ to give his body a second rest. One of his reps had earlier told VARIETY that he needed time to heal from an undisclosed ailment.
In his statement breaking the unexpected news, he said ” For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans. I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second to rest and heal,” he wrote.
The BET 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award winner continued: “You’re still going to get a bit of the past, some of the present and a unique look into the future on the rescheduled date but you’ll also be getting 100% of me. The last thing I want to ever do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start. However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best. My team will be sharing news of the rescheduled date soon. I can’t wait to celebrate this legacy with you”
Some fans have expressed frustration and displeasure with the unexpected news shared by the ‘Confessions’ hitmaker. They have angrily questioned him why he didn’t communicate the Atlanta show cancellation before Wednesday 14th.
On the postponed tour, the singer will pass through North America and make stops in Boston, Toronto, NYC, Detroit, Los Angeles, Dallas and Miami before wrapping up in Chicago with a pair of shows to close out October.
