Nigerian singer-songwriter Wizkid does a stunning cover of “One Love,” a song by the late Jamaican musician Bob Marley. The song’s poignant lyrics and soulful voice make it seem effortless.
The cover was made available on February 14 and is featured on the Bob Marley: One Love (Music Inspired by the Film) soundtrack EP, which was directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green.
The EP also includes a rendition of Marley’s “Natural Mystic” by fellow Nigerian singer-songwriter Bloody Civilian, which is a potent addition to her expanding career.
The covers of Bloody Civilian and Wizkid can be found next to comparable reimaginings by Canadian singer Jessie Reyez, American artists Daniel Caesar, Leon Bridges, and Kacey Musgraves, and Marley’s grandson Skip Marley.
Many new interpretations of Bob Marley’s infamous corpus of work can be heard on the soundtrack.
