This is a dedication to all those envisioning brighter days, serving as an anthem for champions.”
In an interview with Premium Times, Yemi Alade opened up on the inspiration behind the title of the forthcoming project.
“I am a true rebel in words and action. So many albums tend to have monotony in genre and style, which often bores me easily. This album is a blend of what my playlist consists of right now: the new and old pop music that cuts across generations and boundaries. I am generally known as someone who has consistently charted her course and walked the path less travelled”

Rebel Queen has something new, old and borrowed. I want to emphasize that every song is unique and a capsule of my thoughts and melodies and a truckload of nostalgia.” said the singer.
Continuing with the tracklisting of the 16-track album, She said, “It’s a 16-track album that takes you through sounds of Africa on different tempos and rhythms with features from a few of your favourite artists from different parts of the world. The album covers femininity, style, dance, motivation, liberation and consciousness.”
Yemi Alade Paints A Broader And Insightful Picture Of Feminism
Yemi Alade has prided herself as a ‘feminist’, painting a broader and insightful picture of feminism.
According to her, as a woman who loves her father and brothers, she cannot fight men for gender equality simply because she believes in feminism, its ideologies and philosophies.
Speaking in an interview with France 24’s Fatimata Wane at the 16th edition of Magic System’s Femua Festival in Abidjan, Yemi revealed that her definition of feminism is championing causes for the dreams and goals of females to be valid and achieved.
According to her, she wants women to be given bigger opportunities and challenges just like their male counterparts.
She explained that females in societies should be allowed to pursue their goals and aspirations and not be left behind because of their gender.
” I’m a feminist but my definition of feminism is championing causes for females’ dreams to be valid. I love my dad and brothers so I cannot be against men because I’m a feminist. I think feminism is about wanting bigger opportunities for women, they shouldn’t be kept behind simply because they are women” said the singer.
