Known for celebrating African music and culture, the prestigious Indigenous Legends and Legacy Music Awards aims to recognize and eulogize the continent’s musical legends, both living and posthumous, preserving their legacies. Its debut event honored Ghanaian highlife icon Daddy Lumba. Since then, it has honored three Ghanaian legends including Amakye Dede (2012), AB Crentsil (2013) and Kojo Antwi (2015).
This year’s edition of the Imajin and Fusion Global-powered and sponsored event will take place on the 13th of July 2024 at Sandton Convention Center in South Africa. The event which will be power-packed will celebrate musical legends and also South Africa’s 30 years of democracy and African unity.
The forthcoming and much-anticipated event will feature live spectacular and show-stopping performances from ‘Terminator’ singer King Promise, South African rapper Focalistic, Mafikizolo, the legendary Kofi Olomide, ‘Sugarcane’ hitmaker Camidoh, DJ Zinhle, Princess Macdonald, and many more.
This year’s event will honour the Princess of Africa, South Africa’s iconic and most talented singer, songwriter, and humanitarian Yvonne Chaka Chaka.
In an interview with the about-to-be-honoured act, she expressed how honored and appreciative she is. According to her, it is humbling for her to be honored for her incredible and magnificent works.
